In this article, we will share the top five CBD-related enquiries we receive, as well as five further CBD questions we’d love to be asked more.

CBD Questions

The 5 Most-Asked CBD Questions

“What is this CBD Thing, Anyway?”

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD has gained immense popularity in recent years for its many potential therapeutic benefits.

It is commonly used to alleviate symptoms of various conditions, induce a state of calm and relaxation, and reduce pain.

CBD can be consumed in various forms, including oils, capsules, gummies, and topicals

CBD is not psychoactive, meaning that it does not induce changes in perception or get you “high.” Most CBD products contain little to no tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the high-inducing compound in cannabis.

This also means that CBD is legal in many jurisdictions where marijuana and THC are not (though you should always double-check the laws in your country or state before you purchase.)

“How Much CBD Should I Take?”

The question of how much CBD to take isn’t always the simplest one to answer. Since CBD is used for many different purposes, and people respond to it differently, there is no universal correct dosage.

Factors such as age, weight, gender, and existing health issues can have an impact on how your body responds to CBD.

In general, it is best to start small and gradually increase your dosage until you get the desired effect. Increase by just a few milligrams each time, and don’t forget to allow enough time for your CBD to take effect. This can take anything from 15 to 45 minutes.

As a very broad guideline, 1-5 mg of CBD per 10 lb of body weight tends to be about right. Start at the lower end of this range. So if you weigh 150 lb, try an initial dose of 15-25 mg.

“I Heard You Need THC to Make CBD Effective. Is This True?”

Many people have heard the myth that THC is required to make CBD effective. This simply isn’t true. They are separate compounds with separate properties, and CBD is great on its own.

What you might have heard of is something called the “entourage effect”. Several components of the cannabis plant, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, can work together to enhance one another’s effects in a process known as synergy.

This means that, while CBD and THC can work well together, CBD still offers plenty of benefits when consumed alone.

How Should I Expect to Feel When I Take CBD?”

You might be aware that CBD won’t get you high, but you’re probably still wondering how it might make you feel. In fact, this is one of the most common CBD questions we get asked.

Most CBD users describe a feeling of relaxation and peace that gradually spreads throughout their bodies. They may feel calmer, less tense, and experience a reduction in anxiety.

Some people also feel more focused, enjoy improved sleep, and even report a reduction in pain and other physical symptoms.

The effects of CBD can vary depending on the individual, the dose, and the form of CBD used. CBD is generally well-tolerated and considered safe, but on rare occasions some people may experience side effects.

“Can I Travel With CBD?”

Confusion around the legal status of CBD remains, and many CBD questions center on its legality. Many users are unsure whether they can travel with it or take it across state lines and international borders.

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized CBD at a federal level in the United States, but its rules remain perplexing.

Flying with CBD

The TSA updated its What Can I Bring? website regarding medicinal marijuana in May 2019.

Guidance now states that: Marijuana and some cannabis-infused products, including certain Cannabidiol (CBD) oil, remain unlawful under federal law, save for items that contain less than 0.3 percent THC on a dry weight basis or are authorized by FDA.

Therefore, if you decide to fly with CBD into or internally within the United States, ensure it is hemp-derived CBD containing less than 0.3% THC.

If you are flying outside of the United States, check the airline’s rules and the legislation in the country you are traveling to, as CBD remains illegal in some countries.

Driving with CBD

Since CBD is now legal at a federal level, driving over state lines with CBD in your possession should not be a problem. Some states have slightly different laws and regulations, though, so it’s always a good idea to check up-to-date guidance before you travel.

Five CBD Questions You Should Be Asking

“Can CBD Interact with My Medication?”

Yes, CBD can interact with some medications. Though CBD cannot get you high, it is still a biologically active compound and this means it is contraindicated for use with some types of medications.

CBD can affect the level of a particular drug in your system and how your body processes that drug.

If your CBD questions are around medication interactions, it’s vital to double check before you start using CBD.

Healthline recommends avoiding using CBD with any medications that come with a “grapefruit warning.” If in doubt, though, speak to your healthcare provider before using CBD alongside any other medications.

“How Can CBD Help My Physical Health?”

Studies have shown that CBD may have potential in relieving pain by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which plays a role in regulating pain perception.

CBD may also help reduce pain by interacting with other receptors in the body that are involved in pain modulation, such as serotonin and vanilloid receptors. Many prospective customers come to us with CBD questions around its use for physical health.

Some evidence also suggests that CBD can reduce inflammation. Inflammation is a natural response to injury or infection, but chronic inflammation can contribute to pain and other health problems.

CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties, therefore, may help to reduce pain.

CBD has been studied, with promising results, for its potential in reducing pain associated with conditions such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and neuropathic pain.

“How Can CBD Help My Mental Health?”

The evidence suggesting CBD may help with mental health is particularly compelling. CBD has shown promise in treating mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

It can induce a feeling of calm, happiness, and peace in users (though without the euphoric high associated with THC,) leading many customers to come to us with CBD questions around its efficacy in improving mental health.

Some studies suggest that CBD may help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression by interacting with serotonin receptors in the brain, which are involved in regulating mood.

CBD can also work particularly effectively alongside other practices shown to increase mental wellbeing, such as yoga and breathwork.

“Can CBD Cause a Positive Drug Test?”

Many jobs in the US still require drug testing, and CBD users are often anxious that it will show up on a test.

However, drug tests do not check for CBD. Instead, they test for THC, the psychoactive component in cannabis.

Since CBD products are required to contain no more than 0.3% THC by law, it is highly unlikely that this would show up on a drug test. This is particularly true in the case of hemp-derived CBD products, as hemp contains only trace amounts of THC to begin with.

However, using high amounts of a THC-containing CBD product could theoretically cause a positive result. To minimize your risks, keep your CBD use within recommended limits and choose a high quality product from a reputable supplier.

“How Do I Choose a Quality CBD Product?”

When it comes to CBD products, not all suppliers are equal. So last on our list of CBD questions you should be asking is this: how can you ensure you’re choosing a quality product? Let’s dive in.

First and foremost, do your research.

Take the time to understand the reputation and reliability of different CBD suppliers. Look for brands that prioritize transparency and provide clear information about their sourcing and manufacturing processes.

This will help you make an informed decision and select a product that meets your needs.

Next, consider customer reviews. Feedback from other CBD users can provide valuable insights into the quality and effectiveness of a product. Look for positive reviews that highlight the supplier’s commitment to delivering high-quality CBD.

Furthermore, remember that THC is the component typically tested for in drug tests, not CBD. Legally, CBD products are required to contain no more than 0.3% THC. This makes it highly unlikely that CBD alone would trigger a positive result.

However, it’s important to note that using CBD products with high amounts of THC could potentially lead to a positive result.

To minimize any risks, it’s best to keep your CBD use within recommended limits and choose a high-quality product from a reputable supplier.

In summary, choosing a quality CBD product starts with research and finding a reputable supplier. By doing your due diligence, you can confidently select a CBD product that aligns with your needs and preferences.

So, go ahead and embark on your CBD journey with confidence!
